Saturday 20th October, Streetly "Rant, Rave & React" event (3R's) from 10am till 3pm at The Streetly Association, Foley Road East, Sutton Coldfield B74 3HR

The Streetly LNP in conjunction with Community Empowerment Network (CEN) and Walsall Youth Services are organising exciting events for people aged 8 and over to enable issues to be raised specifically to the area in which the young people live. The event is to enable young people in the area to express their views on the current services and activities available to them and to help service providers identify gaps.

The focus of the day is two fold:

    1. The consultation will aim to find out:

  • Which facilities and activities are undertaken by the participant?
  • what facilities and activities is the participant aware of but chooses not to attend, and why?
  • What facilities and activities, that are either unavailable or not known to the participant, would the participant like it to utilise?

    2. The showcase will allow service providers from the public, private and community/voluntary sector to promote their facility and programme of activities.

Overall the event will offer a fun and interactive activity based day for young people.

The aims of the day are:

  • To enable young people to identify their issues regarding the provision of facilities and activities in their local area
  • To showcase and promote local facilities in the LNP area
  • To identify how young people would like to find out about local activities (i.e. website, directory) Outcomes

  • A comprehensive map of local facilities and activities available to young people.
  • Identification of specific problems, barriers and gaps and what is working well in the provision of services and activities for young people

You are cordially being invited to have a stall to promote your activities aimed at young people, advertise what services are being offered at present and provide information on services planned for the upcoming months. Your presence is an integral part of the consultation methodology as well as being an opportunity to directly access a captive audience of your potential customers.

The day will begin with a relatively structured consultation that will provide you with a direct but somewhat limited contact with the participants. Once the “formal” consultation is out of the way there is an opportunity for societies, clubs and groups who specialise in young people activities. E.g. yoga, keep fit, martial arts to pre-book a slot to give a performance or demonstration. This will also be the time when you can gather specific information you need, or talk with a particular group of young people.

If your organisation wishes to take part in this exciting event as a stall holder or to offer a stage performance, please contact:

Ms Aliyaah Baines on 01922 652284

or Dominic Leadlbetter or Charlotte Corden from CEN on 01922 648 618.
