December 2008 events: week commencing Monday 1st

first Monday each month Streetly Disabled and Senior Citizens Association meet at the Red Cross Hall, Blackwood Road, Streetly at 7.30 - 9.00pm. There are currently about 40 members. Annual subscription is £5.00 and charge for each meeting is £1.50 including tea and cakes and a raffle ticket.

Monday Line Dancing class for absolute beginners 1pm - 2pm, improvers/intermediates 2pm - 4pm, at Streetly Community Centre

Wednesday Streetly Solitaire Club meets at Veseyans Sports and Social Club, Little Hardwick Road at 8.00pm. It is open to single adults of all ages and status. Members can chat over a drink then take part in a game or quiz in a relaxed environment, and can also join in regular days out, theatre trips, holidays, walks and meals out. 1st Thursday each month is the regular meeting of The Walsall Consumer Group for Blind and Partially Sighted People where blind and partially sighted members and professionals from the field get together to discuss the issues that matter to the visually impaired people of Walsall area. Although we take our work seriously, launching and maintaining campaigns such as our Transcription Service (run in collaboration with Walsall DIAL) and our Equipment Loaning Service, we also take a more community based approach - inviting in speakers from accross Walsall borough and holding occasional open days to promote our work and raise our profile. please see Walsall Eyes website for more information.
